The decision to hold a snap General Election on Thursday 12th December brings to an end one of the most disastrous governments in generations. This is our chance to demand better for Britain, and Woking in particular.
In that election, I will be standing to become the Lib Dem MP for Woking Constituency. As a local Councillor, former Mayor and life-long resident I believe I have the experience to serve as Woking’s Member of Parliament.
The Lib Dems won the last election we had in Woking – the Europeans in May. Localised opinion polls say this election could be really close between the Conservatives and Lib Dems. My team and I will be fighting hard to win Woking again in December.
We face a critical point in our country’s history and this General Election is our chance to change the future of our country. The Lib Dems and I want to stop Brexit, invest in public services like the NHS and take action to fight climate change.
Earlier today, Jo Swinson launched the Lib Dems’ slogan for the General Election campaign: Stop Brexit. Build a brighter future.
This election is a once in a generation opportunity to reshape our politics, and give hope to the millions of people who want a fairer, brighter future. That is why, we have launched our campaign slogan: Stop Brexit. Build a brighter future.
This slogan reflects a positive forward-looking vision for the country, and to get the word out, a poster van with this message will be touring the constituencies of Boris Johnson (Uxbridge) and Jeremy Corbyn (Islington North) this morning.
Both the Conservatives and Labour are stuck in the past, failing time and again to build a better future. We have an ambitious plan for the future of our country, where every person, every community and our planet can thrive.
This General Election is about the direction of our country for the next generation. The Lib Dems are the strongest party of Remain, we are in touch with the majority of Remain voting Woking and we are ready to fight to stop Brexit and ensure that we can build a brighter future for our United Kingdom.
