Tomorrow, I will chair the first in a series of ‘Woking Debates’ – where local people come together to debate key topics.

These monthly debates will take place at Christ Church in Woking town centre, on Saturdays between 11 am to 12.30 pm.

Tomorrow’s debate is about health and social care – the adequate funding of those services and how we as a country cope with an ageing population is a key challenge facing us, so debating this is fundamental to tackling the problem.

Part of my role as the Mayor of Woking is to promote interest in public life, and acting as the independent chair – like I do at Woking Borough Council meetings – and encouraging people to attend ‘Woking Debates, completely fits that bill.

After this debate, the next ‘Woking Debates’ is on February 9th about modern day slavery.  We will then discuss social housing on March 9th, education on April 13th and travellers on May 11th.  If your interested, please come down to Christ Church to watch or even take part!
