Mayor’s Christmas Card competition

by willforster on 3 December, 2018

As the Mayor of Woking, I recently ran a Christmas Card competition which saw children from my former school, Horsell Church of England Junior School, take part.

Over 40 pupils from Horsell’s Junior School submitted potential designs for me to choose my favourite.  The winning design will be used for the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Card, which will be sent to hundreds of people and organisations in Woking Borough as well as other Mayors and key people across Surrey.

Last week, I was delighted to attended a special school assembly to thank everyone who took part and announce the winner – the competition was won by Maria Canevaro, a Year 6 Pupil.  Maria’s Christmas Tree themed design caught my eye to beat the other entries from my former school.

I want to thank every child at Horsell C of E School who entered my Christmas Card competition.  I hope they all had as much fun creating their designs as I did in judging them.  Maria’s design showed a real creative flair, it will be such a wonderful design to send out across our local community.

My Christmas Card competition was a great chance for the children in Horsell to showcase their artistic talent.  I am delighted to be able to kick start the festive season by celebrating the wonderful creativity of children from my former school.
