Action against speeding on Westfield Road

by willforster on 3 February, 2020

Surrey County Council will start work to make Westfield Road safer and combat speeding from 17th February.

As local people know, Westfield Road has been accident black spot for too long.  Since the beginning of 2014, there have been 20 personal injury collisions on Westfield Road – resulting 4 serious and 16 slight injuries.

Which is why, starting on Monday 17th February and lasting around two weeks, the Council will install five traffic islands along Westfield Road between Granville Road and Honeypots Road.

These traffic islands have been designed by highway engineers to narrow the road to slow traffic down and help pedestrians cross the road.  They should notably improve safety on Westfield Road, especially for children attending Westfield Primary School and elderly residents of Mayford Grange.

Am surprised that dangers of approving new school on a main road were not considered years ago.
