It was great to start Sunday’s Surrey Half Marathon, along with the smaller children’s and 5k races.  The Mayoress and I enjoyed cheering on all the runners, who coped really well with the wind.

I want to say a huge well done everyone involved in the Surrey Half – hope they all had fun.  It is estimated that around £300,000 was raised for charity, an amazing achievement.

During the last Woking Joint Committee meeting, I was pleased that the organisers of the Surrey Half Marathon agreed to my request to move the date of the 2020 event so it does not clash with Mothers Day – although some people do not like the road closures involved with the race, it is widely seen that having the Surrey Half on Mothers Day is a step too far.
