South Woking roads to be resurfaced

by willforster on 29 May, 2020

Surrey County Council will resurface Claremont Avenue, New Lane and Robin Hood Lane on 10th June.

All three of these roads will be closed to through traffic from 7 am to 6 pm, but access will be maintained for local residents.

With roads being very quiet during the coronavirus lockdown, it is an ideal time to make repairs or resurface roads.  However, social distancing practices still have to be followed – so although roads are quieter, is it more difficult for the work to be done.

Whilst on the topic/budget for resurfacing, has anyone in the Council’s decision making process driven down White Rose Lane recently, even in the past 10 years? Or is the state of the road saving money that would need to be spent on traffic calming?

The Council via the Woking Joint Committee has identified that there is a need to resurface White Rose Lane. As the road is in a bad state and quite long, it will cost a lot. The Joint Committee locally has limited funding, so asked the County Council centrally to fund resurfacing.
