A report, seeking the approval of Councillors for New Vision Homes to submit a planning application, was meant to be presented to Full Council at its meeting on 9th July 2015 – however, this has now been deferred until later in the year.
I understand that senior Conservative Councillors in the ruling Executive made the decision following the scheme running into serious trouble. Earlier this year, the Council was even forced to set up an independent panel to review the situation – as both Councillors and local residents had questioned the process behind the Sheerwater Regeneration plans.
The Council is now saying it will make a decision whether to allow New Vision Homes to submit a planning application after the Independent Sheerwater Scrutiny Panel has delivered its judgement on the process – likely to be this Autumn.
Very few people object to the principle of regenerating the centre of Sheerwater, so any plans to do that should have been popular – however, the Conservatives running Woking Council have completely mishandled the Sheerwater Regeneration scheme. The Council has spent £3 million so far and got nothing to show for it, other than upset residents and a stalled regeneration scheme.Leave a comment
